La Gomera is a small island of little more than 20 km from north to south but its area of 378 square kilometres holds a priceless ecological treasure which has been declared Heritage of Mankind by the UNESCO.
There are very few places in the world which can rival the biodiversity of La Gomera, made all the more valuable by its prehistoric characteristics.
Steep mountainsides fall away abruptly from the highest peak Garajonay in search of the Atlantic, in a sequence of mountains and ravines which form an almost perfect circle.
